Family Support Services
Our Family Support Service offer bespoke supports tailored to individual family needs. Our Family Support Workers work in conjunction with in-house specialists to determine the best approach when supporting a family to achieve a desired outcome. This goal-led intervention supports families nearing crisis to reach achievable goals and develop transferable skills to assist the family going forward. Our team pride themselves on delivering a person-centred, holistic approach focused on a family’s unique circumstances.
By adapting a multipronged approach our family support workers support the child in crisis and their family/ support network to ensure that a clear and consistent approach is taken by all interested parties and ensuring the best possible opportunity for successful outcomes. Access to this service is made through your HSE Disability representative.
Respite Services
Our “Positive Peers” respite group is a therapeutic respite service which is run fortnightly on a Saturday morning for children with additional needs. The group focusses on promoting each individual’s social skills, and fine and gross motor skills through play in a small and predictable group setting. The positive peers group offers a safe and nurturing environment for children to engage in positive risk-taking and develop their interests in a range of new activities. Requests to access our respite services can be made through your HSE Disability representative and is subject to meeting relevant criteria.
Occupational Therapist
Our Occupational Therapy services use evidence-based strategies to support children and their families. Our therapists focus on goal-based approaches to help children manage with day to day activies, learn new skills, and focus on what’s important to them.
OT services include parent coaching, standardised assessments and recommendations, and bespoke intervention programs.
Our therapists use trauma-informed and neuro-affirmative approaches to foster understanding and self-acceptance, while supporting children to reach their full potential.
Some of the areas our OTs can help with include:
Developing underlying skills needed to achieve success in daily activities (movement, attention, hand-eye coordination etc).
Problem solving issues with daily activities like toileting, showering, dressing, or feeding.
Managing school life and identifying supports needed in school or pre-school.
Understanding and supporting a child’s unique sensory needs and preferences.
Strategies to support social and emotional development and play skills.
